Strange thing it is.
An actual label. Why do I find it strange? They didn't last long. When they decided to use the WW1 overseas caps again, it was mainly in wool. These are cotton. The wool cap, USA Spec. 8-114, had already been adopted. There was no cotton equivalent. Thus, these. The USA Spec. 8- items are wool. 6- is cotton. In spite of that, these were folded into the 8-114 Specification.
Once the cotton ones were folded in to 8-114, the cotton and wool were given "types." Type 1 was wool with type 2 being cotton.
